Orlando Child Photographer ~ Our girls…

They are growing so fast, and changing so much right before our eyes. I spend so much time taking photos of other children that our girls rarely get in front of the “real” camera. I took both of them out separately over the last two weeks to do some updated photos, and here is the result. Our oldest has gone from little girl to big girl overnight it seems, and our youngest is a full blooming toddler! They are both such great girls and I see it in their eyes when I look at these photos. And yes I let Shay play with my fancy camera…ack! She loves it though and is so gentle with it! Happy Father’s Day to my hubby!!

What can I say about my husband, wow so much… 7 1/2 years ago he gave me the most precious gift, the gift of our baby girl Shaylee. 6 years later another gift, our sweet Camdyn. They are both growing and changing everyday, but one thing still remains the same… the joy and love the both have for their Daddy. Seeing them play, seeing them laugh, and seeing his sweet ways of comforting them has made me fall in love with him even more. As many of you know John’s father was not involved in his life. He always said he wanted to be the father he never had. Well I assure you he is that and then some… he is the best daddy I know, and I’m so proud of who he has become. His dedication to us, our girls, and me is something I adore about him. I have tried to find the right words to tell him how I feel, but I am often at a loss for words. I appreciate everything he is, everything he does, and all the love he gives to our family.

I put together a slideshow of his “daddy days”, enjoy! Happy Father’s Day John, I love you!!!

In Case You Didn’t Know…..

We have been busy at CNP….

It has been a while since our last post, so at Cristy’s request, I am jumping in and saying hi to the blogging world. This past month we have been updating and adding additional computers and software to our arsenal. We reworked our office and workspace to be more compatible and more efficient for both of us. Cristy even got a new comfy office chair that is oh so plush. So what does this mean for all of you? Brace yourselves, you will be hearing more from me as I will be contributing to the blog to help free Cristy up to tackle other CNP projects.

So for my first blog post, I thought it would be fun for you all to get to know me a little more since I have been in the background and behind the camera with CNP thus far. So, where to start. I guess the most common comment when meeting people in person is, “wow, you are a lot bigger in person”. Well I am 6′ 4″ and although I am 34 years old, my Wii Fit age is 40. Yeah, thanks Nintendo for that little “calculation”. I grew up living all over the west coast. Northern California was for the most part home, growing up. I graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1992 and attended the University of Northern Colorado where I played baseball for the University and spent a lot of time in the Rocky mountains “playing”. After leaving school, I began working with an environmentally conscious company where I learned a lot about our impact on the environment and how to not only take care of ourselves, but our planet. This is where I met Cristy. We happened to be attending a training together and for the most part have been together since that day back in the fall of 1995. Fast forward to today……we have two beautiful daughters, a black lab, a kooky cat and a busy life and business that we are proud and happy to share with all of you. I am proud to say that I have never been a fair-weather sports fan. I was born and raised an Oakland Raiders fan (this is where you can hiss and spit and laugh if you want) and will be one until the day the team, or I, is no longer around. I am also a follower and fan of the Oakland A’s and the Golden State Warriors (hmmmmm all Bay Area teams….hmmmm). I love to play golf and jump at the opportunity to play new courses. I am a fan of red wine, stout beers, Baskin & Robbins peanut butter & chocolate ice cream and for some weird reason mathematics. Go figure. My music choices range anywhere from the Doors and the Dead to Coldplay to Bob Marley to Rick Braun. Pretty much all over the place.

Hopefully my brief history didn’t bore to many of you. I am sure there will be a lot more to come and I am looking forward to being a part of this side of the business.Thanks for reading.

Some of our family stuff…

We’ve had a crazy couple of weeks in the Nielsen household. I have unofficially been on what I call a “mini-vacation”. I’ve taken a vacation from shooting and regular sessions to get caught up on the behind the scenes stuff and to spend some quality time with our kids. Both of their birthdays are in mid December so this time of year is always a little hectic for us. Camdyn just turned one on the 15th… it’s hard to believe she’s already a year old and walking around our house! Shaylee turned 7 on the 20th, and wow 7 years has just flown by! Our two girls are just smitten with each other and have the best sister love! Here’s some photos from Camdyn’s first birthday![[Show as slideshow]]

Here’s a little youtube video of Shaylee’s birthday party. Our good friend Margie came up from St Pete and has this rockin little point and shoot camera that these were all taken with, LOVE it! I am hopefully getting one of those soon! It’s so much nicer to have one of these for things like this than carry out huge ole honker cameras! We hope you enjoy the little show, Margie taught me how to put video and photos all in one little slideshow, pretty slick! Shaylee did a food drive in lieu of gifts this year, and it was a big hit! We also took a trip to Santas Christmas Tree Forest in Eustis. We’ve done this for 3 years in a row now and we always enjoy going! This year it was crowded, but we still had a great time! Camdyn had her first pony ride, and she was literally screeching with delight and loved every minute of it. These are the memories life is made of, and I always love capturing our outings even if the photos are just snapshots. Enjoy![[Show as slideshow]]

Lukas Butterfly Encounter!

This past weekend we took some family time out and took the girls to visit Oviedo’s Butterfly Encounter exhibit. It was so much fun, and really so relaxing to walk into a large room filled with a ton of butterflies and just watch them fly around. They had tons of beautiful plants and flowers and it was a blast to just photograph whatever we saw. Shay ended up bringing a caterpillar home to watch it turn into a butterfly. We no sooner got home and it promptly started turning into a chrysalis, so we should have a butterfly in a week or so! Talk about a great science lesson! Anyway, had to share some of the photos. John took most of the butterfly shots, I did the flowers. And yes there’s some animals in there too, including the human kind…lol. Enjoy![[Show as slideshow]]

Right before we went to Maine for vacation, my cousin had a baby girl which they named Kami. She is adorable and has the most hair on any baby I’ve ever seen! After Camdyn’s baptism I got some shots of them with their new baby girl. Big brother Taegin wasn’t so sure what to do with her…lol… it was pretty funny. Shay finally lost a tooth!

She’s been so excited for over a year wondering when she’d lose her first tooth. Most of her friends have already lost theirs so I think she felt left behind…lol. So about two weeks ago she came to me saying a tooth was loose, and it was, but BARELY. Today she walked over to me and said it was bugging her because it was so loose, so I asked her if she wanted to pull it. She says “will it hurt?” I said I didn’t know but if it did I would stop. I grabbed a hold of the little thing and it literally came right out, so it was definitely ready! Here’s two shots of our oldest monkey with her little hole! I think the one next to it will be out soon too!

I have to laugh too… When we were in Maine her Uncle (my brother) told her that one of his friends kids got $100 from the tooth fairy. I told him that he can be the tooth fairy today…lol. She’ll get a couple bucks from us and think she got gyped!!! Thanks Uncle Scotty![[Show as slideshow]]

Wow, what a whirlwind vacation, but man we had a great time! We visited with lots of family, John’s sister flew in from Reno, my mom and grandma from Denver. We had Camdyn baptized while we were there, which was a really fun event! The weather was PERFECT, the best weather we have had there in years! Shaylee had a great time hanging out with her grampy, uncle and fishing every single day. That was her favorite thing to do. Camdyn fully enjoyed all the attention and snuggles she got from everyone. Here’s some photos from our trip. We are slowly getting back into the swing of things, so if you have emailed or called in the last 10 days I will get back to you as soon as possible! 13 years ago today John and I met, seven years ago today we got married. It’s been a crazy, fun, and intense ride, and it brings lots of memories when I look back at how far we have come. Here’s three photos, one from when we were just babies…lol, a few days after we met, one from our wedding day, and one from a few months ago. I have to giggle too, first and third are almost the same pose 13 years later… wow how we have changed!
